Erik K. Weigand was first appointed to the Orange County Water District (OCWD) Board of Directors in January 2024 and elected in November 2024. He currently serves as 2nd vice president. With over two decades of legislative, political, and public policy experience, Director Weigand has been involved at nearly every level of government from federal and state, down to county and local. He has worked on Presidential, Gubernatorial and Congressional campaigns throughout the country. Director Weigand also serves on the Newport Beach City Council, where he was elected in December 2022. Previously, he served eight years on the Newport Beach Planning Commission working to form consensus while solving complex land use matters.

Director Weigand received a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice from Chapman University and resides in Newport Beach, where he was born and raised. He is married to his wife, Krista, who is a twice elected Trustee of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. Most importantly, she is the mother to their ten-year-old twins, Annie and Miles. For fun, Erik enjoys traveling, body surfing, food, wine, sunshine, wearing his collection of Reyn Spooners, riding his Peloton and playing with Mattie, their family’s Shepherd mix rescue dog.
