Claire Johnson, Senior Regulatory Specialist

The Orange County Water District is very pleased to announce that Claire Johnson, Senior Regulatory Specialist, is the 2022 Employee of the Year.

Claire has led the District’s successful efforts to gain state regulatory approval for the GWRS Final Expansion over the past two years. This has required extensive coordination with multiple District departments (e.g., Water Production, Hydrogeology, Water Quality, Laboratory, R&D) and outside consultants to prepare multiple detailed applications, reports, plans, presentations, meeting agendas, and memos. These documents have been scrutinized by the state Division of Drinking Water and the Santa Ana Regional Water Quality Control Board, including review at two separate public hearings. Claire’s flexibility, aptitude, and professionalism have been key to her success in this challenging, multi-disciplinary role. She is a pleasure to work with, as her co-workers repeatedly cite her pleasant demeanor, organization, initiative, and selflessness. This effort recently culminated with the Regional Board approving a brand new and much improved permit for GWRS project on December 4th, 2022. Without Claire’s diligence and unwavering effort, the District would have struggled to obtain these critical approvals on time.
