Desalination Options Considered
At the February 3, 2016 OCWD desalination workshop, staff discussed eight possible options to distribute desalinated water from the proposed Huntington Beach Ocean Desalination Project.
At the workshop, the Board of Directors eliminated options 1A, 1B and 1C from future consideration and directed staff to continue to explore the remaining five distribution options. A workshop to further evaluate and discuss the remaining options will be held on March 2, 2016 at 5:30 pm in the OCWD board room, located at 18700 Ward Street in Fountain Valley.
During the February 3rd workshop presentation, questions also arose regarding the region’s future water demands and the methodology used to calculate the figures. As a follow-up to those discussions, Dan Rodrigo from CDM-Smith presented at the February 17th OCWD board meeting regarding future water demands estimated in the recent OC Water Reliability Study.
Presentations and audio of each meeting may be accessed online at www.ocwd.com.
There will be public comment opportunities at the upcoming March 2 meeting. Questions and comments may also be emailed to oceandesalexploration@ocwd.com.
