James Ferryman is currently a Director of the Costa Mesa Sanitary District Board, where he has served as a Board member since 1988. During his tenure on the Sanitary District Board of Directors, Ferryman has served as President for several terms (’94-’98, 2005). He also has a long history of community involvement, serving various organizations such as past President of the Newport-Mesa Unified School District (’98). He was Chairman of the Orange County Sanitation District (2006-2008), and was chosen as the Costa Mesa Chamber of Commerce’s “Man of the Year” in 1992.
Ferryman is a leader in environmental protection service and serves as Chairman of the National Water Research Institute. He is also currently on the Executive Board of the Santa Ana River Flood Protection Agency. Ferryman attended school locally, graduating from Costa Mesa High School. He earned his B.S. in Industrial Management from San Jose State University, where he also played football.
Ferryman is a successful businessman in residential, commercial, and investment real estate, where he is currently the President of the Howard James Company. He is also franchisee of a Wienerschnitzel restaurant. Ferryman has been married to wife Mary for 36 years. They have three children and two grandchildren.
