John Bonsangue

Director of Recharge and Wetland Operations

John Bonsangue is the director of Recharge and Wetland Operations for the Orange County Water District. He provides operational oversight of the Talbert Barrier, Prado Constructed Wetlands, field headquarters recharge facilities, and the District’s distribution facilities.

John is a licensed California Professional Geologist with more than 20 years of experience working on Southern California groundwater projects. He began his OCWD career in 2000 as a hydrogeologist and rose to the position of principal hydrogeologist, managing OCWD’s injection recharge and distribution facilities.

He is a licensed State of California Department of Health Services water distribution operator and holds a bachelor’s degree in earth science from the University of California at Santa Cruz. John was a past president of the South Coast Geological Society and holds a Real Estate Brokers license with the State of California.
