Water Supply & Reliability
For decades, OCWD has efficiently invested in water reliability – doubling the yield of the groundwater basin. The District saves approximately $16 million to $19 million a year by collecting storm water behind Prado Dam in Riverside County. This water is recharged into the basin instead of being wasted to the ocean. The District also stores surplus imported water in its basin for the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD), which helps with reliability for all of Southern California.
