JOB DESCRIPTION:

Under supervision, performs physical, chemical and microbiological analyses on water, wastewater, and related samples with emphasis on wet chemistry and sample preparation.  Sample preparation involves the use of EPA approved methods and includes liquid/liquid or solid phase extraction techniques, evaporations, derivatization and sample transfer.  Other responsibilities include preparing reagents, purchasing, and inventory of supplies.  Position uses computers for sample processing, instrumentation operations, and LIMS data entry functions.     

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field preferred.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Perform duties in a timely manner with minimal supervision; handle various chemical reagents used within laboratory methods; maintain a neat work area.  Applicant must have knowledge of good laboratory practices, safety requirements, and chemical procedures.  A valid California Driver's license required.
