OCWD's service area covers more than 350 square miles, and includes Orange County's vast groundwater basin. The basin provides a water supply to 23 cities and water agencies, serving more than 2.3 million people with more than half of their water demand. The District owns 1,600 acres in and near the Santa Ana River in Anaheim, which it uses to capture flows and recharge the basin. The District also owns 2,400 acres above Prado Dam, which it uses for conservation and water quality improvement.
