Steve Sheldon was appointed to the Orange County Water District board on May 18, 2005 to fill the vacant board seat representing Division 5 and served the remaining term through December 2006. Director Sheldon was elected in November 2006 to a four-year term (2006-2010) that began in December 2006. In December 2007, he was elected to a one-year term as President of the Board.
Director Sheldon, an attorney, brings to the more than 20 years of experience in public policy, governmental relations, political consulting, coalition building and grassroots organization. His work includes managing public and government relation’s efforts for Fortune 500 companies before cities, counties and special districts. Some of his clients include Carl Karcher Enterprises, city of Garden Grove and St. Joseph Health Systems.
Director Sheldon has represented numerous entities before cities and counties on the California Environmental Quality Act and on land use matters pertaining to zone changes, conditional use permits, variances, street abandonment, development agreements, specific and general plan amendments, among other entitlement actions.
Director Sheldon also serves on the board for the Corona del Mar High School Foundation. He also volunteers for the Eli Home in Anaheim, a non-profit organization for abused children and their mothers. Sheldon and his wife, Janice, have four children and reside in Newport Beach.
