WATER DISTRICT HOSTS OPEN HOUSE AND CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL

WHAT: You’re Invited! In celebration of Water Awareness Month, Orange County Water District is hosting an Open House and mini Children’s Festival. Bring families, friends and children for a day of fun water experiences.

WHO:
Orange County Water District (OCWD)
Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC)

WHEN: Saturday, May 5 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

WHERE: Orange County Water District, 10500 Ellis Avenue, Fountain Valley, Calif. (Exit the 405 freeway at Euclid (turns into Ellis) and turn right – corner of Ellis and Ward) Located next to the Orange County Sanitation District. Map and additional directions.

PLANNED ACTIVITIES: May is Water Awareness Month and to help the community become more involved in this celebration and learn more about Orange County’s water, OCWD and MWDOC will host an Open House and Children’s Festival with free food and prizes. Activities are planned for all age groups, so join us for:

  • Kids games with prizes
  • Caricature drawings
  • Water tattoos for kids
  • See bulldozers, safety and water quality testing vehicles
  • Kids Science Show by MAD SCIENCE (showing at noon and 2:00 p.m.)
  • Mariachi Band (11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.)
  • Water research display
  • Water conservation display including xeriscape garden
  • Water quality laboratory tours
  • Behind-the-scenes tours of world-famous Water Factory 21 and new membrane water purification technology

OCWD is a special agency created by the California Legislature to maintain and manage the groundwater basin under the northern and central areas of Orange County. The OCWD supplies 75 percent of the water needs to more than 2.7 million residents and businesses in Anaheim, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, most of Irvine, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, Orange, Placentia, Santa Ana, Seal Beach, Stanton, Tustin, Villa Park, Westminster and Yorba Linda.
